Living sustainably will need to start with the home you choose to live in. A home that produces its own energy to heat and run all the electrical needs of the house is a very good place to start. Enough land to grow vegetables and other plants that can sustain us is also a critical part of living sustainability. But we are not just inputs and outputs. A
neighborhood community and places to get into natural world also sustain us. Wheeler Field is a designed community that attempts to balance all these aspect of a sustainable life.

Wheeler Field lies at the corner of Stage Road and Nashville Road in the heart of the much loved West Bolton. For years this corner field has been used by the Bolton Community as a gathering place for a pick up game of baseball, ice skating, dog walking or watching the Bolton Fireworks. In the summer of 2016, Vermont Building Resources, LLC entered into an agreement with the owners of the 23 acre parcel to attempt a subdivision that would accommodate necessary development with the protection of this valuable community resource.

The result of this partnership is a 9 lot subdivision that includes a neighborhood of six net-zero-energy ready homes situated next to a 10 acre parcel of protected open space including recreation trails and seasonal access to the golf course. The traditionally used “Wheeler Field” is included in the subdivision as one larger 2.58 acre parcel. VBR is actively working with a Bolton community group to explore efforts to retain the Wheeler Field parcel for community recreational use as it has been used for years. You can find more about the community effort here: www.wheelerfield.org.

Building packages for the Wheeler Field project are available now. All homes will be passive and active solar and built with a double wall system that ensures a tight building envelope to reach zero net energy. The details on finishes and the package pricing can be found in the "specifications" file listed under each house.

We are also happy to discuss custom building a home at Wheeler Field as well.

All homes will be built by Reiss Building and Renovation, which has a reputation as a leader in the field of green building in the state of Vermont. To view completed works by Reiss Building and Renovation, please visit:
